There are numerous rooms within the home - but none of these should compare to that of our bedroom. This might not be where we entertain our friends - but it is the place where we wish to decompress from a challenging day. In order to create a relaxing ambiance you need to have the correct colors and furniture in your room. When you have each of these you will be organized and comfy to spend your nights reading or watching your favorite television show in peace.

Bed
Nothing is more crucial in this room than the bed that we are sleeping on. Shop around at various stores and compare the unique styles that you can choose from. If you want something more elegant than you may wish to choose something that is made with an ornate bed frame. For something that is more contemporary you will have the ability to pick out the sleigh bed.

Dresser
It is not uncommon for individuals to transform their closet into their dresser. However, I still feel it is important to save space for one in the bedroom. Bedside Table

Kenroy Home Hatteras Outdoor Floor Lamp

We were looking for an outdoor rated floor lamp to go on a screend porch and this one fits the bill. It is heavy so it won't blow over in a breeze and it appears to be weather resistant as well. The box came with a package slip from Hunter which said that one large washer was supposed to be included although the instructions said nothing about where it was to go. Hunter does not stock these as replacement parts but it does not appear we need one. If we do, we will get it from a hardware store.

This lamp is attractive and well made. It's a keeper.

Fluxus Performance Bedtime Story - Next to the piano onstage is a small bedside table or cabinet, with a lamp on it. Next to the lamp is a childrens book. Two chairs are in the space lit by the piano. The lamp is on. This is the only light on the piano. Two performers enter through a door from the side of stage [lit from the other side - as if from the landing] carrying a large amount of paper. The door is left open. They place it on the piano and gradually fold it out, until it covers the piano (except the keyboard) like a duvet or blanket. Then they go round and tuck the piano in so to speak. The paper is all scores for children songs/lullabies/from music for children study books. The parents then take their seats by the keyboard. Player A - the one nearest the light passes the childrens book from the table/cabinet to the Player B who reads the story out loud to the piano. Player A sits watching the piano, smiling/stroking it gently like a child drifting off to sleep etc. They also bring the keyboard cover down slowly to suggest the eyelids of the child drooping. When the cover is completely shut, Player A watches the now sleeping piano, smiling. Eventually they touch Player B and point to the piano. Player B stops reading, smiles and passes the book back to Player A who places it back on the table/cabinet. Player A gently kisses the forehead of the piano and turns off the lamp. The two walk softly off stage, pausing at the door to look back proudly on the sleeping ...

Clara Driscoll and the Genesis of Tiffany Lamps

In October of 2005 two Tiffany scholars learned of hundreds of letters written by Clara Pierce Wolcott Driscoll the head of Tiffany's Glass Cutting Department. Until then very little was known about the leader of "The Tiffany Girls." In the resulting book, A New Light on Tiffany, Eidelberg, Gray, and Hofer tell her fascinating story.

Without a doubt, Louis Comfort Tiffany gave Clara Driscoll freedom to design a prolific number of Tiffany lamps. Her letters describe in detail the earliest design processes for leaded glass shades, including her award winning Tiffany Dragonfly lamp. Yet he did not publicize the work of any of his artists and craftsmen. They were referenced in only one or two articles of the day and given just a few awards. This was the case in the Paris Exposition of 1900 when Tiffany was required to disclose the artist's name.

The woman who designed the majority of Tiffany lamps was born in Ohio on December 15, 1861. Her father died when she was twelve, leaving Clara and her four younger sisters in the care of their mother and aunt. They were united by a strong artistic and literary bent that led three of the girls to pursue visual arts. In Clara's case, the foundational concepts integral to the Tiffany lamp were learned at the Western Reserve School of Design and Metropolitan Museum Art School, as well as Tiffany's own studios.

After Clara and her sister moved to New York in 1888, the massive correspondence known as the "Round Robin," letters began between mother, daughters and aunt. In them descriptions of Tiffany lamps, designs, and inspiration shed "A New Light on Tiffany" as the authors aptly put it. Yet, it would be a circuitous path that would lead to Clara's inspired designs. Tiffany lamps would come about only after Clara learned Tiffany's materials and methods in the stained glass shop.

For over six years Clara labored at making windows and mosaics in two different stints with the company. Here she learned to appreciate the beauty of Tiffany glass and the art of putting it together. Yet, all was not smooth sailing in her private life, and It was only after Clara returned for a third time in 1897, that she began to describe in her writing the designs of classic Tiffany lamps.
