"Nick," her voice weakly floated from upstairs, "Nick." I groaned, grabbing my cell phone off the coffee table to check the time. My eyes squinted through the bright light of the screen to see that it was two in the morning. "Nick," her faint call trailed from upstairs again. I lifted myself of the couch, scratching the back of my head as I walked upstairs. As I continued through the darkness, I stubbed my toe against the top step. I clenched my teeth, drawing a loud hiss through them. I placed my foot back down and carefully walked towards the room. I opened the bedroom door, flicking on the light, to see her tossing around in the bed while rubbing her hand against Baby Jonas. "What's wrong?" I worriedly asked as I rushed towards her. I placed my left hand over her stomach while caressing her head with my right hand, "Selena?" "It hurts," she groaned. My eyes shot open as I feared the worst. "Calm down, Baby," I kissed her forehead, "Just calm down." She sniffled as she cradled her belly in her palms, "I'm trying." "Do you want water or something?" I asked. She shook her head, biting her lip in pain. "Babe, you didn't eat dinner today. Could it be that?" She shook her head, "Nick, I know the difference between hunger pains and cramps. These are—she winced—cramps." I nodded, turning on the lamp on the bedside table, then shutting off the main light. "Come here," I whispered, lifting her back off the mattress as I squeezed in behind her. I stuck a pillow behind my back as ...
